2009 Natura Gold Coin – White Rhinoceros (Safari Through Africa)
The 2009 Natura Gold Coin is the first issue in the Safari Through Africa series produced by the South African Mint. The coin features the powerful White Rhinoceros, the largest rhinoceros species and one of Africa’s most iconic animals.
Struck in 24-carat gold with a purity of .9999, the coin was produced in proof quality as part of the prestigious Natura wildlife coin programme. The reverse design highlights the impressive size and distinctive horn of the white rhinoceros, capturing the strength and resilience of this remarkable species.
Collectors value Natura coins for their limited mintages, exceptional wildlife artwork, and high gold purity. The Safari Through Africa series celebrates encounters with Africa’s extraordinary wildlife while travelling through the continent’s diverse landscapes.
The 2009 White Rhinoceros coin was issued in four sizes — 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz, allowing collectors and investors to obtain the design in different gold weights.
Today the coin remains a desirable collectible among enthusiasts of South African gold coins and wildlife-themed numismatics.
The Natura Prestige Set consists of four 24 Karat gold coins (1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz) packaged together in a box made from either “Kiaat” or “Imbuya” wood. In addition, each set has a plaque featuring the name “Natura Prestige Set” as well as the year “2009” and the individual number of the set.
