Hi, I’m the founder of Muntstuk.com, and my journey into the world of coins started long before the internet made it easy.
As a kid, I was always collecting something — trading cards, stamps, coins — anything that felt like it could tell a story or hold hidden value. What fascinated me most was how an everyday item could one day become rare, valuable, or even sacred to someone.
As I grew older, that curiosity turned into a deep appreciation for things that are scarce or not available to the general public. It became clear to me: people will go to great lengths to own something special — whether for personal connection, emotional value, or simply for the bragging rights.
In 2007, what began as a passionate hobby turned into a mission. I launched Muntstuk.com — a place to share knowledge, insights, and stories about South African coinage. The early days were all about trial and error. I had no web experience, just a determination to build something useful for collectors like me.
