Queen Elizabeth II(1953-1960)

The Queen Elizabeth II series(1953-1960) is the third and final Union of South Africa series. In 1961 the independent Republic of South Africa was formed, and the 1st Rand decimal series was introduced.​

As with the other Union series, the coins were identical in size and value to the coins used in Britain. Some beautiful, high-grade coins of this series are fairly widely available and are traded at affordable prices, making the QEII series an excellent entry-level proposition for collectors, notwithstanding its historical significance.
