Quarter Eagle |
The correct terminology for a two-and-one-half dollar gold coin. This denomination, two and one-half dollars or one-fourth of an eagle, was first struck in 1796, struck sporadically thereafter, and discontinued in 1929. |

Questionable toning |
Term to describe the colour on a coin that may not be original. After a coin is dipped or cleaned, any subsequent toning, whether acquired naturally or induced artificially, will look different than the original toning. PCGS will not grade coins with questionable colour. |
